Before we left for Omaha, we received news that Josh is deploying for 6 months. On top of that, we found out he would be cutting his vacation short (very short, what was supposed to be 28 days turned into 6) so he could go to a couple of trainings for his deployment. Knowing we only had a handful of days left before he had to leave for training, we tried to get in as much Omaha goodness as we could.
One of the things Josh wanted to do most was go to the Henry Doorly Zoo. We were lucky enough to also see the traveling dinosaur exhibit at the zoo before it left. Just so you know, in our family, dinosaurs are the coolest! Here we go:
The Zoo
In the course of this one day, Cole had 3 outfit changes. He was just strolling along when a huge puddle of mud sucked him into it's trenches. After that, he was in footie pajamas, and the temperature simply didn't agree with that outfit. Luckily Papa (my dad) spotted a short-sleeved onesie in the aquarium gift shop that was perfect for the rest of the afternoon.
Cole's favorites of the day:
- All of the animal statues we found
- Feeding the fish
- Growling back at the dinosaurs
- The cool stuffed dinosaur Aunt Beth got him
- Watching the lion cubs getting fed treats
- Petting the goat while it chewed on Papa's pants
- Spending the day with family!
