Unexpected surprises are the best!

I checked the mail while I was over on Ramstein this morning and discovered a package with my name on it. I hadn't ordered anything and I didn't know the person who was on the return address. For a quick moment I panicked, the way you often panic when you assume someone has stolen your identity only to realize if someone had stolen your identity, they wouldn't have the stuff they purchased sent to your address. Really, this took longer to explain then it did for me to think through. To say I have an overactive imagination is an understatement.

Obviously I had to know right then and there what was in this package. I should mention that it's not very often I'm truly surprised by something. I have a tendency of finding out what someone is plotting without even trying or snooping, no really it's true. To my delight, it was actually from my cousin Jaime. She sent me a Cabbage Patch Kids-Newborns doll for Cole! This is big guys. Really big. Here I was, grinning like a loon in the middle of the parking lot, holding a doll as people walked by staring at me, but I didn't care!

Back story: When I was growing up, a few of my cousins and I had CPK dolls. Mine is Rosie and I still have and display her proudly. If "Toy Story" taught me anything, it was to be good to my toys. In fact, after watching TS when I was younger, I was so afraid Rosie was going to think I would replace her, that I made sure she stayed on my bed and told her I loved her every single day (I'm telling ya-overactive imagination). Rosie is by far my most prized material possession, and for Cole to have his own CPK to grow up with, I can't even put into words how excited this makes me.

It is so important to me to have things to pass down to my son, and thanks to Jaime I have something new to pass on, and this has to be one of my favorites. There aren't too many things that are perfect in this world, but this was definitely the perfect surprise. Thank you Jaime, I am so deeply touched. Thank you.

  1. Awesome surprise!! :) Can I just say too I love that your CPK doll does not reflect your skin tone. I think if more kids had diverse toys growing up the world would be a better place. Way to be awesome to you and your cousin!

  2. Did your doll turn green? or is that the flash making it weird?

    1. Her head is definitely a little green haha I've had her for over 20 years, so I think a little discoloration is to be expected, although, the photo makes her look a little more green than she is in person...

  3. That is so cool Lindsey that your little boy has a CPK dolly. I still have mine and now my sibling's kids have them to. I love the smell that they have when you first open the box, it is like the smell of baby powder. Enjoy plying with the doll with Cole.
