The Nursery

This weekend flew by! When did it become Tuesday afternoon? Shoot. The nursery checklist is finishing out nicely; the crib and dresser are assembled, the glider is in place, and I finally got around to hanging my D.C. Comics paintings. I only painted them a hundred years ago, it was about time, right?! We'll add blackout curtains and crib skirt soon. I think I'm pretty much done decorating, any additions to the nursery will wait until we move back to Omaha. Let me know what you think of Little Brother's room!

Finally got the mobile up. Once we add the crib skirt, you won't see all the hand-me-downs!
Cole decided to help me take some pictures, he's always so helpful!
T is for Trout (in a) TARDIS (diaper cover). Thanks Shelby! I love my fellow Whovians!!!
This little book was under our Christmas tree. Josh always finds the cutest gifts!
Cole took a break to lay down on the softest carpet on the planet.
Flash, Batman, Green Lantern, and Superman.
I love how they turned out and that they're similar to Cole's paintings but so different too!
Cole thought the dresser needed a little something extra, nothing says nursery like a Cookie Monster car with a Spider-Man cup on top! I love my little ham! I think he's starting to understand something big is coming, and it'll be so exciting to see what he thinks of his brother.

Nesting is happening over here

I thought I had been nesting at a nice, slow-and-steady pace this time around, apparently that was just my body pre-gaming. In the last two weeks we got the major nursery furniture, which apparently pushed my body into hardcore nesting mode.

Remember when I said I was going to wait for Josh to get home from work, yeah that didn't happen. The box our crib came in wasn't as heavy as it claimed online, so Cole and I pushed it down the hall to Little Brother's room. The next thing I know, it's completely assembled-weird.

Monday we had a doctor's appointment and everything is still chugging along like it should. When we got home, we found a very large, very heavy box waiting for us. The dresser had finally arrived, we're still putting that thing together, and I have no desire to assemble it without Josh. I put a few pieces together that required a bit of hammering, but that was so we could do more work after Cole was asleep.

We've been waiting until all of the nursery furniture was in before hanging any decorations, and that's been the hardest for me. I just want to decorate!!! I have a feeling this weekend will be the weekend to get things done, and that excites and soothes me all at once.

Hopefully after this weekend I'll have more photos to share. Keep an eye out in the near future!

Milestones and Nursery Ideas

Holy smokes, where did January go?! In years past, January always crept by since it’s my birthday month; this year, however, it seems to have slipped through my fingers!

It was so weird to ring in this New Year, the thought of entering the year that Etcha will be joining us makes it seem so much closer, and more real! This coming Friday will mark the age that I will be when I give birth-that’s just nuts! I’m happy to celebrate these milestones, however small they may be, why not?!

Josh and I have FINALLY decided on the baby’s room theme!!! It’s not that we’ve been arguing over it, I just keep changing my mind! Aww the joys of being a lady! Perhaps my statement was a little misleading-we’re not really going with a theme as much as we’re going with colors. Royal blue and lime green to be exact. It’s not that I dislike nursery themes; I just can’t to commit to one theme. I probably changed my mind 10 times before deciding it was probably best to just go with colors!

Really, I think it’s because of my ambition to sew and create a unique nursery that we’re shying away from a specific theme. One of the things I want to make are curtains for the baby’s room and if I choose a theme I might be limiting myself to only one fabric or design, and I like having different options, does that make sense?!

Now that we’ve chosen what we want to do for Etcha’s room, we can actually proceed in making these plans come to life! I can’t wait to see the finished product!
